Translating for Language Justice, across the Disciplines

Abstract This piece acknowledges the MLA's many initiatives in support of translation while also advocating for even greater visibility as a mode combatting language injustice disciplines across university. Translation offers opportunities inclusiveness, information sharing, and collaborative knowledge production linguistic, social, economic, geographic divides. It form hands-on apprenticeship intellectual scholarly rigor undergraduate graduate students alike. And by translating texts colleagues writing other languages, scholars working languages Global North can help further goals justice access facilitating exposure to traditions production. proposes that, instead treating threat an individual's academic viability, we embrace means increasing vitality equity our communities.
